The Flagler Museum will open a state-of-the-art elevator on April 7th. The new “green” elevator will make the second floor of Whitehall wheelchair accessible for the first time since the Museum opened in 1960.

Flagler Museum Recognizes Florida Heroes

During the Carnegie Heroes Lecture on Sunday, March 9, 2008, the Flagler Museum will recognize two heroes who voluntarily risked mortal peril while attempting to save the life of another person. Paul D. Meeks and Charles T. Carbonell, Sr. will receive the prestigious Carnegie Hero Medal from Carnegie Hero Fund President Mark Laskow during a special lecture and ceremony beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the Museum's Grand Ballroom.

Alexander W. Dreyfoos joins Flagler Museum Board of Trustees

Palm Beach, FL) The Trustees of the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum are pleased to announce that Alexander W. Dreyfoos has joined its Board of Trustees.

President of the Flagler Museum and great grandson of Henry Flagler, George G. Matthews, is thrilled Dreyfoos has joined the Board commenting, “Alex’s interest in and support of Art and Culture in this community is legendary and my fellow Trustees and I could not be more pleased that he has agreed to serve on the Board of the Museum.” The Flagler Museum’s Executive Director, John Blades, remarked, “I am very excited that Mr. Dreyfoos has joined the Board. His long-standing commitment to art and culture, and his extensive board experience will be a real asset to the Museum.”

Amazing Historical Florida Artifact Reproduced for the Flagler Museum by Tiffany & Co.

(PALM BEACH, FL) The Flagler Museum recently unveiled a replica of the Gold Telegram and Box created by Tiffany & Co. to commemorate the completion of the Over-Sea Railroad in 1912. The Gold Telegram, ornate vermeil box, and wooden storage case are the product of a six-year collaboration between the Museum and Tiffany & Co. Designers worked to recreate these unique and historically significant artifacts by utilizing period descriptions and the sole surviving photograph of the original box and telegram from the Flagler Museum Archives.

Martin Johnson Heade Painting Returns to Whitehall
(PALM BEACH, FL) The Great Florida Marsh by Martin Johnson Heade is now on exhibit at the Flagler Museum. Purchased in 1886, the painting was one of the first large paintings by Heade purchased by Henry Flagler. After more than eight decades the painting returns to Whitehall.

(PALM BEACH, FL) The Flagler Museum presents a special exhibition, Tiffany at the World 's Columbian Exposition from
January 17 - April 16, 2006. This is the first time the amazing silver objects made for the Columbian Exposition have been exhibited together since 1893. This exhibit will only appear at the Flagler Museum.
